Eli found himself alone again. It was an odd feeling, being alone surround by countless fellow canines, but barring one interaction with a talkative pup those canines had proved to be jerks. They ranged from the innocently under educated to the flagrant assholes, but it made life hard on any aspect of the scale. It was a blessing when Gaven had asked him to stay with him at his camp, maybe out of pity, but maybe out of really wanting someone there to watch his stuff. Either way the dog wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. But the elven man had been gone for some time now, and even the spirits who were usually a bother didn't come to pester him, perhaps lulled to sleep by the thick layer of snow on this plane. Eli found himself leaving the camp behind for now and venturing into the highlands to hunt. Surely there was prey where he lived, but it was loneliness that force the tripod out of hiding. But why, he thought to himself, why will meeting someone else be any different now? He didn't care. Desperation and haunting memories of his last winter holed up in solitude drove him forward.

There was a decent amount of snow in Gemini. It would have been nearly up to his elbows if it hadn't been crusted over. Eli easily traversed the land, even in parts where he had to plow through. Stomach grumbled simultaneously with his nose picking up the scent of a rabbit. Tracking was what he was bred for, finding it was no problem. The lucky little bastard was gifted with a coat to blend in with the snow every winter. The dog wished he could do the same, though for a brief second wondered what he'd look like all bleached out. Such thoughts were for another time, now it was time to feed. The rabbit, it seemed, as the same idea as it nibbled on some branches, distracted as any prey would allow itself to be. Eli made his move, and it looked good for him. The rabbit started to zig zag as he drew near enough to grab his meal when the crust gave way. Eli gasped in surprised but tried to keep up the pace but the sudden change in terrain was a game changer.

"No!" the dog charged through the snow as the rabbit outpaced him, disappearing into the land of white. He knew when he was beat. "Damnit!"

There was no use expending more energy on this. Eli slowed, looking for a place where he could climb back on top of the snow. Once he did he would sit, looking uselessly in the direction of the fled rabbit. Thankfully the tripod wasn't at a time where he was starving, but it was still frustrating.

Being born into a family of misfit children meant that you never truly felt different. Growing up for most of her life within a den that was full of acceptance and love, a mother and father who taught each one of her littermates (and herself!) to be proud and confident, no matter the company they keep.

Her family was sure to thank for the way the dead-legged girl stood with zest as her leg dragged through the muck... and freezing snow. It was a good thing that there wasn't any feeling to be had or else she may have frostbite to worry about.

Moscow leapt through the heavy mounds of snow, far beyond the supportive and welcoming den that she considered home. A distance away from well wishes and praise, a long ways away from the family that loved her... for all she was..............

Little blue watched as a yellow guy with three legs raced through the snow, playing an OBVIOUS game of tag with his friend-rabbit. Considering when she should intervene, or if she should stay and watch, she picked up on a cue of frustration from the yellow guy. His rabbit friend was getting away and he couldn't keep up. She resonated, understanding the feeling that he must have, but he couldn't give up! He couldn't just let his friend leave!.

"DAMNIT!!!!!!!!!!!!" She mimicked, several octaves louder than the dog parallel to her. She'd watched as he kicked snow to try and keep up with the rabbit, transcending her to the chaos to investigate what was happening. The young pup quickly concluded what was happening and wanted to help. "COOOOOOOOOME BAAAAAAAAAACK, DAAAAAAAAMNIT!" Somehow louder than before, she called again.

When Moscow realized that the rabbit would not return, her shoulders hunched forward and she dropped her head, a forlorn guise on her face. "I'm sorry you lost your rabbit... I hope Damnit comes home to you soon."

A rabbit had skittered out from underneath a nearby brush, escaping from the jaws of one hungry kid … straight into another's. Bellamy crunched its spine in one bite, and proudly carried her kill, making the way to her den.

She heard shouting, and ever the one to investigate disturbances happening on HER TURF (!!!), walked in on Eli and Moscow, both looking quite concerned about something.

Dropping the rabbit to her feet, Bell licked her nose.

“What’s all the yelling for, ya brats?”

To say Eli was startled by the sudden, squeaking scream that followed his failed hunt would be an understatement. His head whipped around to find a little pup in the snow. Another pup? The first spirit he encountered here was a pup, then his little adventure with the endless chatterbox Angus. Why were there so many pups here? And more importantly, why were they always alone? Back with the humans the young were allowed to wander their current camp, but Gemini was much bigger. There was a lot more opportunity for danger. Or more opportunity to find a poor dog who didn't now what to do with pups.

The little dejected pup looked more upset about the lost meal than he did. There also seemed to be a miscommunication here. The dog wasn't put off by the fluffball repeating his profanity. Eli never had much of a mouth, but his old pack wasn't shy about shielding young ones from words.

"Uh, damnit isn't the rabbit. It's what you say when you don't catch the rabbit." He looked around, trying to find hide or hair of a parent, "Are you out here by yourself?"Eli regarded her and finally noticed the way she stood. "Did you get hurt? I-"

There was no time to continue as another entered the scene. With her size and demeanor Eli was unable to discern she was young, she was already taller than he was. Ears flicked back at being called a brat, but he was begrudgingly becoming used to being treated as such by wolves. A tasty morsel plopped at her feet. Damnit had met his end.

"I lost a rabbit. The little one got a little confused. But it seems you took care of it instead."

When strangers see a young girl with a lame leg they often feel a sense of sorrow and regret for her, as if she is facing a sort of deficiency in life by having one less working leg. Well, she wasn't. And that wasn't Moscow's deficit. Her deficit was her horrendous selective hearing. Although Eli made it clear that damnit wasn't the rabbit, Moscow did little to acknowledge it. Her attention was driven towards planning to get Damnit back for her yellow three legged friend. It was easier than she thought it'd be when Bellamy appeared conveniently then, Damnit at her feet.

How RUDE.

THEN, BELLAMY CALLED THEM BRATS. SHE HEARD THAT.

"UH... EXCUSE ME, YOU SLIMY THIEF." Moscow yelled even though Bellamy was like, right there.

"GIVE DAMNIT BACK. THAT'S NOT YOUR RABBIT, IT'S HIS. HE'S BEEN LOOKING FOR IT, DUDE? LIKE, WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU STEALING FOR?" She turned back, relaxing her expression to consult with Eli about her plan.

"So, I say we uh... I dunno, jump her or something? Six legs are better than three. We can totally take her together. I think she killed Damnit though.... I'm sorry." Yellow guy must be having a terrible, terrible day.

Bellamy looked to the one who had spoken first, a yellow, floppy-eared pup, and what a sight he was! She’d heard about “dogs” from Rook, so this must be none other than that. How curious. How could they hear, with their ears all folded over like that? It was only then she realized the boy was missing a whole limb. Oh dear. She moved a paw over her kill, wondering what Rook would do in her situation. Share a morsel, or let nature take its course on this poor, three-legged accident? Maybe she should tear off one of the rabbit's legs and give it to him. That would be hilarious

“Ah, you—”

“UH... EXCUSE ME, YOU SLIMY THIEF.”

“… ?!?!?!?”

“GIVE DAMNIT BACK. THAT'S NOT YOUR RABBIT, IT'S HIS.”

“Uh—”

“HE'S BEEN LOOKING FOR IT, DUDE? LIKE, WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU STEALING FOR?”

“You—”

Then the rowdy girl turned her back on Bellamy, and she fumed. Don’t just scream at me and then ignore me, brat!

“Oi.”

“So, I say we uh... I dunno, jump her or something? Six legs are better than three.”

“I can hear everything you’re saying.”

“We can totally take her together.”

“Hello.”

“ I think she killed Damnit though....”

“Listen here …”

“I'm sorry.”

Finally, an eruption.

“THAT’S IT! I WAS gonna be nice and share MY rabbit that I KILLED, especially for that little cripple over there, but NOW YOU’VE DONE IT.”

She snorted like a bull ready to tear through red cloth, steadying her stance (on all four healthy legs hahaha), and then jumped from where she was standing to headbutt straight into Moscow and her screechy little mouth.

“C’MON! SIX LEGS ARE BETTER THAN THREE, RIGHT? YOU WANNA TAKE THAT BET ON?!”

Meanwhile, Damnit laid still and glassy-eyed, cooling in the snow.

While the first pup Eli encountered was a talker, this one appeared to be a screecher, and while her pitch hurt his ears he couldn't help but smirk at her spunk. The dog was doing an admirable job of ignoring the interrupted sentence fragments being forced between the little one's proclamations, and he would have been content to continue doing so if that's as far as it went.

"Think we could take her, huh?" Eli was far from serious, but smiled at the spitfire nonetheless, "Well maybe we-"

The insolent rabbit thief exploded. The tripod didn't even have time to react to the derogatory remark, barely had enough time to make a indignant expression before she leapt. Now despite her attitude, and her size close to his, there were some physical indicators that she was a pup herself. Pups could be assholes, he was well aware of this, but it was the duty of adults to teach them when they went too far. So when the little one found herself on the receiving end of a headbutt and a threat Eli went into action. The dog ran forward and rammed his front paws into Bellamy's side. The intent was to knock her down, away from Moscow, but even if he just managed to push her out of the way he would count that as a win. Either way he's take a step back, glaring down at the pushy princess.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Eli scolded, "Does taking on a little puppy make you feel big? Feel that bad about yourself that that's how you feel good?" The dog moved over to Moscow to see if she was okay, and just in case he needed to hold her back. He'd spare Bellamy another glance, "She couldn't have hurt you," That may hurt the little one's feelings, but Eli wasn't thinking of that, "You didn't have to hurt her."

The same, a stranger might say, could be said for Eli. But to him there was a few important differences. One, the pup was older, she should have known better. Perhaps she hadn't spent a lot of time with adults yet. And secondly, Bellamy was being a little bitch. Eli wasn't in any position to correct the adult wolves that gave him a hard time, but like hell if he was going to take it from a pup. Could she turn on him, and do some damage? Maybe. But this problem had to be nipped in the bud before she filled out. If he could get one wolf off his back it would be worth it. The dog wasn't delusional, he was certain he hadn't heard the last of her.

”OH, OH! CRIPPLE?! I’LL SHOW YOU A CRIPPLE!”

Before Moscow could say, ‘Let’s go b-word,’ Bellamy was plowing through the mounds of snow directly towards her. Moscow, looking death in the eyes, stood bravely to brace herself. She felt like the way Dragon Ball Z characters feel when they are experiencing Super Saiyan. Sounded like one, too.

It felt like a long time had passed preparing to feel the pounding force of Bellamy’s much larger body crashing into her much smaller one.

That was because Eli, as noble as he was, intercepted the attack. He meant well but of course Moscow was disappointed she wasn’t going to be able to participate in her first war. “She couldn’t have hurt you,” She’d, regrettably, heard Eli spit at Bellamy.

“UHH.. YEAH I COULDA? I was going to DESTROY HER! She needs a good PUMBLIN’.” The sad warrior glared at Bellamy through Eli’s legs, letting her tongue hang out mockingly. She felt as blue as she looked, having looked forward to finally having an opportunity to prove herself and her mighty brute strength.
