Note: I have approval to have Caithri wash up on the shores of the beach just north of the Fangs of Cetus from an Alpha. Despite that, this is still an acceptance. 8)

The draw from darkness is sticky and clinging.

First, Cait can only make out the eager lapping of the ocean against the rocks. Thirsty claps of sea-water slipping between the crevices; A low tide that tickles against her right foot curiously. Inching the wolf at the sand bed into a sudden, and imposing, consciousness. Tweeting trills of beach and water fowl baying confiding as life dragged on. For a long while Cait just lays there, shocked she is alive. Her eager lungs drawing coughing fits of breath with starving passion, reclaiming life in the heave of her chest. Rattling away only a little of the ocean left behind.

Shakily she surveys the use of her limbs, and finding nothing but deeply sore bones and a sprained paw, drags to her feet with a dogs diligence. A little wild and doe eyed as the surroundings blur into focus. Again Cait sways but catches. Shaking her head and shoulders as pushing onward --she moves fearlessly more inland into Inaria. Away from the smell of salt and boil.

'Where Am I?'

She thinks, and rises her nose to sniff curiously. Snorting ruthlessly until again, Cait hacks away another piece of the unforgiving tide and sand. Drenched and a little chilled, the changeling shivers pathetically onto the edges of the beach. Hesitating only upon an eerie silence. Creeping not from water-side but onward. Or atleast the warning of hackles rising with static seem charged with an imposing negativity. A warning as clear as day in the sudden presence of paw-prints in mud. Cait has the sense to stop in her tracks and perk curved ears forward. Still a little hazy though desperate already to prove her confidence to whoever could be watching.

...Wherever.

But another stagger a few feet and the halfling's drawn to a stark legged standstill. Sheltering a weak paw discreetly against the ground with only a little weight to bear a naturally alert pose. Looking haplessly lost and uneasy. Feeling too, more pitiful than she would ever care to mention. Admittedly, a little nervous about the turn of circumstance.

Funny how the idea of drowning seemed a bit less horrible and more poetic than being torn into shreds by, (searching blue glance reveals more tracks of different sizes), a pack of sharp savage teeth

Though, Cait could use a moment to catch her breath if there is to be an ensuing battle ahead. Her leaders had insisted beyond the edge of fringe lay a disturbed uncultured world. Riddled with danger and pain. But Cait had come through much worse things. So she takes her rest selfishly to settle there in the bed of scattered grass and sand until the sound of shifting movement draws her away from licking her injured paw.

"Quién está ahí? Who's there? Muestra dónde estás!  ....Bonisa wena!"

He didn't venture here often not because he thought it impossible for danger to come from the sea but rather because it was more likely for threats to come from the land border which was why he usually patrolled there more often and more frequently. Today happened to be the day to include the shore in his daily circuit, as he usually did every other day or so, and what he discovered would very likely cause him to change his habit and make it a daily practice to patrol here for there was the scent of a foreigner upon the sand that seemed to be heading inland. A trespasser was within Inaria, a trespasser from the sea. He could not allow such a thing to go unchecked and unchallenged so he quickly began following the scent which was as easily picked out from the familiar Inarian scents as a skunks scent could be picked out in a field of flowers. It didn't take him long to find the source, female apparently, laying down and looking rather ragged and pitiful perhaps. He still had a job to do though and that was to protect Inaria. Of course he was also a diplomat and with good reason to and this was a situation that looked like both would be needed. Of course it didn't take long for his presence to be noticed but most of what he could only assume were words, were spoken in a language he did not understand making what was already a complicated situation even more complicated.

Not all of what was said was unrecognizable though and he couldn't keep standing around running scenarios through his mind, it was time to act. He moved forwards quickly into view, though he kept distance enough between himself and the stranger for both their benefits, so she would not feel cornered, hopefully, and he would not be within easy strike range if this became a violent encounter. "I am a Sentry of the pack you have trespassed in". He stated in a manner that for him was rather blunt but then this was a serious situation. He considered asking for an explanation but he wasn't sure if she could understand what he'd already said and if she could and had any sense then she'd probably realize that an explanation for trespassing was more than a little expected.

((sorry this is short wanted to go ahead and get started on getting Cait accepted for you..also as a side thing if you don't mind could you please include English translations of the Spanish text so I have a better idea of what kind of mood? she is in. Also I had to highlight your text to be able to read it so...))

The Page's paws had taken her towards the sea, her mind wandering as it often did from topic to topic. She thought of how her children were doing, if they were warm and well-fed, where Moons was and how she and her kids were getting along. Knowing the red woman like she did, Haylyn was sure Moons' family was perfectly fine. A pleasant and happy smile crept up on her muzzle.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of waves crashing against the sand, the noise drawing Haylyn back down to the present. Arctic blue eyes scanned the shoreline, watching the waves churn. Frothy white seafoam clung to the rocks and piled in certain places on the beach. It always smelled.. unpleasant around that foam, Haylyn thought, an almost comically disgusted look falling over her face. Despite that - and the cold - it was still a beautiful day, and the ocean was never one to disappoint.

Motion in the woman's peripherals dragged her attention away from the icy waves and to the sand. Squinting, Haylyn could barely make out a moving form. They swayed and stuttered about on uneasy legs, causing her some alarm. She began to make her way down, keeping her eyes on the figure as often as possible. It looked like they needed help, and while Haylyn knew very little about all of that healing stuff, she could at least assess the situation and call for aid if need be. Finally her white paws met chilly sand, but the woman did not get far before stopping in her tracks. Haylyn didn't recognize this wolf - and while she could have chalked it up to her simply having been antisocial for months, something didn't feel right. The stranger seemed injured and confused, and her tracks led back to the very edge of the water. Increasingly on edge, Haylyn crouched in the shoreline brush, brows furrowing.

"Quién está ahí? Who's there? Muestra dónde estás!  ....Bonisa wena!"

That language was mostly foreign to Haylyn, but 'who's there' was easy enough to understand. Alarms were going off in the woman's head, her hackles rising. Was this another invasion? Had Dragon and her little harpy come back to wreak further havoc on Inaria? She realized her jaw was tight only when her gums started hurting - whether from anger or panic, who could say? Movement again drew her attention, this time a face she recognized as an Inarian, Aeolus. He leapt somewhat fearlessly (foolishly?) right into the stranger's view. Haylyn wondered what assessment he had made of this debacle, and how he would handle it.

"I am a Sentry of the pack you have trespassed in."

Tactlessly, apparently.

Haylyn didn't wish for him to be alone with this stranger. The Page forced herself to stalk forwards, still under the cover of the brush. When she felt it was a safe distance from the intruder, she emerged from the brittle shrubs and stood to her full height. She was no longer Queen, but it came naturally to her after wearing the crown for as long as she had. The intruder seemed injured and uncertain of their whereabouts, which made Haylyn believe that perhaps they weren't an intruder at all, but someone who had washed up. It wouldn't have been the first time. Still, the woman kept her guard up, blue gaze focusing on the stranger. "What's your name?" Haylyn asked, her compassionate heart getting the best of her as her voice softened considerably. Her stance was defensive, not threatening - even if the other woman couldn't understand them (could she?), hopefully she would at least see that much.

The introduction to adventure is always a sudden one; And a little over three years old, Cait is old enough by now to have smelled the sweet of political excursions in bloom, and the sour of failed coalitions churning. Though she has always seemed younger. More spirited and gentle-hearted despite the questionable circumstances of her upbringing; A wisdom in the misfortune she'd survived, or the tide she'd swam. Yet still, it's her skepticism carefully disguised as distress that meets the sentry head on. An uncanny knack to untangle the fear curling in her belly -- and set it aside for later until it was more useful in the situation.

"I am a Sentry of the pack you have trespassed in".

Aelous hesitates. Waiting to see if she could understand, and the foreigner catches the notion for what it is. Cait making the choice to instead gather her thoughts. His doubts giving her the assurance she needs to take a moment. The silence that lags in between them noticeable by the blank way she stares - as if lost somewhere in the comprehension. Her foot shuffling beneath, flexing the toe pads of her swollen hock as if to relieve the tension. Caithri speaks his language fluently, though it is not her first. And so just a little she relaxes.

(Had this been a pack of beast, they wouldnt have wasted their time with greetings or rank values. They would have dragged her in kicking and screaming, although still, it is a possibility.)  She bears advantage in the fabricated language barrier. And though Caithri would never lie, there is no compromise to honor if she omits the truth. Atleast for now, until the both of them were beings beyond threatening faces - full of sharp and untrusting teeth. Cait would see where this took her. And she was rather curious about the world beyond her homeland. Riddled and driven with such stories.

"What's your name?"
The two of them have not been alone, a spectator rising to question with distant but curious eyes. A careful creature who ,Cait has imagined, has nightmares of the cruelty in the world. The dires eyes dance in-between both Haylyn and Aeolus a moment, tilting thoughtfully through effortless charade -- clutching a little bit of information to her breast with an effortless ease more consumed with realization than necessarily conveying her story.

"¿Dónde estoy? No sé lo que sucedió, me caí al agua. Desperté aquí..." For a moment, it feels a little good to ramble. Regarding both of the strangers with a little less rigidness as her thoughts echo back. "Debe haber sido la serpiente marina. Recuerdo sus ojos ... ¿Es esto una prueba?.." Until finally, rapid slang would sift into a more personal tone, a greeting buried somewhere in grey-blue eyes that would meet theirs if they looked. Caithri's head inclining kindly to consider the natives of the strange land she'd washed onto..

"Cait."

and then quiet staring, watching, deciding.

(''Where am I I dont know what happened, I fell in the water. Woke up here. It must have been the sea serpent. I remember his eyes...Is this a test? ))

In the wake of his statement there is silence and a blank stare, and while he wasn't oblivious to the fact that she had spoken in his own tongue before that did not mean she was fluent in it. Of course assuming she wasn't fluent in it wasn't a good idea either but that was the diplomatic side of him playing its part in this situation. There is opportunity in the silence as it stretches on. It allows him to think but it also allows him to observe. He did not have the benefit of seeing the stranger stagger away from the water but he had noticed the odd tracks in the sand that had a curious, halting appearance to them and now watching the flexing of the paw and pairing it with the ragged appearance it made it likely, or more likely rather, that there was an injury at work here. Of course that didn't mean there was no threat. If the stranger were injured she might become desperate, or more desperate as the tone used before had certainly not been a relaxed one but had indicated more than a bit of distress, and made it more likely for there to be an attack than if there were no injury. It was hard to say really as it could go either way but whichever way it went he would be ready.

Through the tang of the sea and the sharpness of the stranger's scent he picked up another scent of one who had been at a Page meeting with him before. A fellow packmate on the scene was nice but he wasn't sure whether another Page being present was a good thing or not. Not that it couldn't be beneficial but depending on which scenario played out a diplomat could also be detrimental to the situation if violence was called for plus as a Page himself he knew that the job of Pages was to smooth things over and make sure everyone was getting along with everyone else as well as possible and that there were no hurt feelings but as a Sentry the safety of the pack took priority to any feelings a trespasser might have. When Haylyn emerged from the brush stepping into view he nodded to her in silent greeting and acknowledgement and watched the defensive posture his fellow Page took and watched to see how the stranger would react or respond, whichever one it happened to be, and listened as the request for name was made wondering what sort of reply that might get.

Again there was silence as the stranger looked back and forth between him and Haylyn though there seemed to be a thoughtful expression upon the stranger's face instead of the blank one he'd seen earlier. That was a good indication that either the stranger was intelligent enough to know or to at least guess what was wanted of her or that she could perhaps understand perhaps a little of what was being said which would make it more likely to get some answers to the questions that very much needed to be asked. But when the foreigner began speaking it was more of the unknown tongue rather than anything he could recognize. The tone seemed to imply a question or..perhaps more which just about everything he'd heard so far in that tongue had sounded like gibberish more than words except for one thing..serpiente. Of course as he knew nothing of the language he could not be sure but that sounded rather similar to serpent. Whether it was the same or not he didn't know but if that was what that word meant the question then became was it a literal serpent or a figurative one? A literal one was dangerous certainly but a figurative one could mean much more trouble for Inaria if it was a reference to someone who might come to Inaria to seek this individual out.

Then there was the incline of the head in what might be a greeting or might not and the word Cait was given. The way it was spoken and the tone used seemed like that was the stranger's name. Good. Progress was being made. There was still plenty more to do though so he would proceed. He did not like the idea of assuming the incline was a greeting but if the stranger could not understand what was being said or couldn't understand all of what was being said there was no choice but to make the best guess possible and go with it so.."Aeolus" he said providing his own name as he gave a polite dip of his own head as a greeting to the stranger, though it was rather odd to be greeting a trespasser and if it weren't for the curious circumstances likely wouldn't be happening. Now for the hard part.."Serpiente..". he said sounding it out slowly trying to get the pronunciation right though not sure if it was one word or several even but he supposed he would find out soon enough. "Snake?". He said using the most common word for one and using the tone of his own voice to try and make it clear he was asking a question. He didn't stop there though. It was pointless to ask a question if she couldn't understand so with there being sand available to him to use he took a paw and drug it through the sand in a slightly wavy line and then another alongside it and at one end added two dots for eyes and rounded it off to form a head to create what he hoped looked enough like a snake for the stranger to recognize, if snakes were known to her since that was also something that had occurred to him was that snakes did not live everywhere, but he was thorough so the drawing was just in case. Once that was done he pulled his paw away and then motioned to the drawing repeating the foreign word from before this time as a question. "Serpiente?".

That wouldn't answer the question of whether it was literal or figurative snake that had brought the stranger here, if she'd been brought by a snake at all, but it would be something to go on..hopefully. Though perhaps his fellow Page would have some ideas of her own on how to ask questions, and get understandable answers, from someone who didn't seem to be able to speak the same language.

Haylyn shifted uneasily, feeling the cold wet sand shifting beneath her paws. Every nerve she had was on fire, nervousness and caution washing over her in unpleasant waves. What did this interloper want, where had they come from? The past had taught her that intruders within Inaria's walls was often followed by bloodshed and death - Haylyn did not want that. Her homeland's soil was already too saturated with blood, innocent and tainted both. The last thing they all needed was another crisis.

"¿Dónde estoy? No sé lo que sucedió, me caí al agua. Desperté aquí... Debe haber sido la serpiente marina. Recuerdo sus ojos ... ¿Es esto una prueba?.."

The other once more spoke in their foreign tongue, Haylyn unable to make out even the slightest bit of it. It showed on her face clearly, a brow raising curiously. It certainly sounded neat, but that wasn't important. They needed to be able to communicate - or was this just a facade put on to fool them for whatever reason? The stranger introduced themselves as Cait, Her fellow Page introduced himself, being surprisingly polite. That's good, Haylyn thought, her blue gaze drifting from Aeolus to the stranger. "I'm Haylyn," she introduced, nodding respectfully in much the same way Aeolus had. Did this woman have ill intentions toward Inaria, or was she merely a victim of some unknown tragedy?

Aeolus began to speak, distracting the woman from her thoughts. He was sounding out a word, 'serpiente', something Cait had said. He made the possible connection between 'serpiente' and 'snake'; they did sound similar, but did they mean anywhere near the same thing?

They had to press on, try to find out just what was happening with Cait. It was a strange mystery, one Haylyn intended to solve. "Are you.. lost?" Truthfully the Page was uncertain as to how to handle the situation. If they couldn't speak with one another clearly, how would they find out anything? Curiosity spurred her onward, guard still up and eyes watching Cait carefully. They would figure it out -- eventually.
