It's often the girl goes wandering. She needs supplies for her craft, and it never hurts to find something pretty for someone prettier. Rabbits are her current quarry-- small, but the softest fur in the forest, and she'll have only the best for Sarissa. The small thing wandering the woods, however, is not nearly fast enough to be a rabbit. Or afraid.

There are no litters she knows of-- barring Sari's half-siblings, as of yet unborn, and the Chariot's green is nothing to this degree. She approaches the puppy, scanning her surroundings for his parents, racking her brain for packmates. He's so singular looking.

"Who are you?" she starts, forgetting her manners in the confusion.

Whose are you?

ROMULA

It’s the scent of smoke that rouses the hellhound mutt from her slumber – a scent so familiar and sickening it jolts her from dreams of water and dragons she had been treading mere moments ago. For a moment she almost believes she’s back in Saboro’s red jungle, for a heartbeat wonders if the Mother Volcano spewed her rage of lava and ash once again upon its inhabitants.

But no – Romula was far from that place. Content in slivers of land unclaimed by empires of blood and corruption. This was no man’s land, she had scouted the edges of a pack’s borders before turning safely away to find refuge beneath the gnarled roots of a giant sycamore.

The land had seemed quiet and untouched enough – a seemingly safe place to rest. Despite all her suspicions and delusions, nothing had shouted out to the woman as odd or dangerous.

After all, how could she have predicted war on the horizon?

The smoke drives Romula from her hiding place, her sea green eyes wide as what had been a quaint and quiet woodland merely hours early were now erupted into flame and chaos. She wasted no time in beginning to flee. The ex-Saboran had survived fire and ash before, surely this would be no different.

  Sentry Show and Tell [RI]

This is for @Schorl , but any other visitors from Alteron and aspiring Kestrels are welcome to join. If you're interested, just ask! <3

The leaders were elsewhere discussing terms, and despite his position, Gabriel was inclined to follow. He was, however, tasked with overseeing these visitors. Despite his frequency here, he's not all that familiar with the layout of the first ring, away from the direct borders. In the first ring, he is a Sentry, the second is a pack member, and third, himself. A separation of spaces helps him to compartmentalize. That's the excuse he's come to, for why he's having such a hard time socializing.

"Just up ahead," he croaks, clearing his throat before continuing, "there's a break in the mountains where the sun can reach, so most of the snow melts off." It's a rather scenic patch of grassland, overlooking the river that leads out of the territory, and nestled right against the second ring. With any luck, the small band with garner attention from passersby, and he won't have to entertain them alone.

The sun warmed her fur as Silke padded through the freshly-fallen snow evident in the 'crunch' 'crunch' it made under her paws. The cold was tolerable with the thick fur that the female had but it still nipped at her nose. She could smell the sharp scent of the pines around her and she eagerly sniffed around.

Rhiannon? the fox-wolf called softly, hearing the heavy footsteps and turned her head towards the direction. Würden Sie mir bitte helfen? Her voice was soft and respectful as always, even when talking to a former servant.

The wolf in question padded forwards, her reddish pelt fluffed up against the cold. Her massive head lowered to the blue hellion's height as she spoke in a contralto as rich as her fur. Jah?

Wie ist es hier? the cloudy-eyed fox asked. She had been blind since birth and colors meant little to her but it would be nice to know what she needed to look out for.

The Fringe Dire looked around and began to describe the scene before the hellhound. There were trees, spruce and pine trees that were tall and healthy. A layer of snow had fallen and they were surrounded by what seemed to be a small valley that may have been carved by a river that was dried now - Silke had supplied that part herself, not being able to hear any water. The female described even more of the scenery, sitting down in front of the engrossed fox.

  It's good to be king

The sun was high in the sky when a massive figure padded into sight. He was enormous, a wolf of large stature with a thick pelt layered over a muscular body. His fur glinted in the sun's rays showing him to be a healthy individual with bright, steel-blue eyes that took in the world around him, assessing for threats and those in need. He stopped at the scent line, noting something strange about it but shaking it off fairly quickly.

Basileios knew that a wolf was nothing without a pack and he decided to find fair lands to call his home. He came across these claimed lands and since it seemed better off than the others he had been to, the young male was quick to make the decision. He wanted to serve a pack again, to protect the weak and uphold peace. And from what he could see of these lands, they would be peaceful.

The massive male raised his head, letting out a strong howl, calling for someone to allow him entrance into the pack, to ask for acceptance. The male waited, his head held high and his chest puffed out. What kinds of warriors did these lands hold? What would their monarch be like? From the lands alone, the king and the warriors of the pack must be good if they were to be able to defend these lands from others.

Ok.

Maffs? Check.

Wind direction? Check.

Height of branch? Check.

Non-height of wolf? Check.

Ready to launch in...uh. wait.

The observer would see the small form of a blue wolfess staring intently at the tree in front of her. Her pale green orbs were fixed on a branch a few feet above the ground. She impatiently whooshed her fringe out of her eye, and wiggled her butt, frowning at the target. She'd heard, in passing, that the new pups will somehow have to be transported from the island to the castle. Now of course they could just wait for the tide to retreat, and have their mother and probably one of the healers carry them in their maws all along the hidden island, but Schimmah felt that's a silly waste of time. Why wait when they could use a basket? Like, a mega basket! A super basket! She'd been doodling the design in her head, and experimenting with different types of plants. Finally, after quite a few rough starts she'd settled on the bark of this particular tree.

Only problem is that she'd kind of stripped the lower part of the trunk kinda bare.

Problem number two is the branch she needs is a little high.

Problem number three is the branch she needs is way high.

Hm. Suddenly 'only' turned into a 'bunch'

Uh. Maybe she should re-think this whole thing...

She wrinkled her nose and resumed her crouch. Nu-uh. Puppies needed her to make something, and make it she will! With a mighty roar she leapt upwards. For a brief moment she felt like she could fly - the wind in her fur, her paws weightless, the branch getting closer - closer - closer! And then her teeth snapped shut on empty air and she fell back to earth, jealous gravity reasserting her wish.

Flat on her back, her breath knocked out, Schimmah lay there and thought rather unkind things at the branch.

  pointless wanderer

Another day's wandering was coming close to an end.

Per was not tired yet, and he was only looking for a comfortable place to stop out of a sense of obligation to routine. The sun was just dipping below the horizon, and the temperature was going down with it. The season was barely changing into spring, so most of the cold of the earlier winter nights was gone, but it was still enough to chill the tips of your ears. The wind whipped through the trees, filling the air with whistling sounds. It smelled like it might rain, but the sky was barely cloudy. That wasn't enough of an indicator to get rid of his caution, though.

His amber eyes skimmed the dense hardwood forest for any sign of life or shelter. His mind was on the latter more than the former, but he wouldn't mind a quick meal, if it was easy. Prey animals were the only things he was expecting to see, as he hadn't noticed any signs of pack markings in this area. And what was the chance of encountering another wanderer? Slim to none, probably.

Something in the corner of his eye made him snap his head to the right, ears perked. Bird, he thought swiftly. Just bird. But still, he felt a need to check it out. Bird or not, it wasn't like the land ahead was any more promising than the land off to the side. Per loped towards the noise with no concern of the noise he made, his large paws crunching through the leaves and underbrush. The noise was almost as unnerving for anyone who saw him as he was - a big, unkempt wolf with a cold focus in his eyes.

"And though we lose our stake, Heaven is where we make it
Even in the smallest places, Can a garden grow"

----

Hakan found himself blinking at the edge of a small lake, the lake where Firebright Falls fills in to Firebright Lake... He had been lost in the stories of the falls, lost in his own reflection, lost in the thousand yard stare.

He looked up vacantly at the lakeside and watched as the phantoms of his memory played out before him again. A giant pack of coyotes... his dear friends pulling themselves out of the lake. It didn't have a name back then... It certainly didn't have the name of Hakan's lost love at the time. It was as if he was a young man again, watching them fight back the intruders... Pulling his adopted sister, Oasis, out of the lake after she nearly drowned... That day she had gone deaf...

Hakan looked over the lake at the wall of falling water and dragged his gaze up and up and up to where it started. He looked back where the Castle would be.

He was... lonely... and sad. Don't get him wrong, he was grateful and enjoyed those he has close, but... he misses many more, every single one that touched his life in one way or another, those that no longer walked with him.

There was someone here though, that would perhaps still listen to the ramblings of an old man lost in the folds of time. It would be nice to catch up, they had never really had much of a chance to connect, strangely. No time like the present.

He then wondered if Adolph might enjoy partaking of this one type of herb. If he remembered where it was planted. Should be close by, yes, that was the reason he had set off in this direction today.

He was no longer Monoceros, a bittersweet transition, he was glad to pass on the torch to his own worthy apprentice, Jase. Though it didn't really stop the elder from nosing his way into work and getting lost in it. He was thankful of the little extra brain space to work on his own though, like finding this stand of herbs.

He nosed around in the area he thought they were last, but to no luck. He must have misremembered the spot. Perhaps they were on the other side of the lake? He shook his head, as he wandered over to the otherside, wondering how fuddled his memories could be if he had lost track of these plants.

Ah... there they were, that tangy aroma that almost instantly makes him sneeze. A strange plant that when chewed, intensified the senses, making you pleasantly dizzy, and gave aching old bones some relief.

He grabbed a good stalk he could strip several leaves from. It was best fresh, and made his way to Adolph's den at the castle. Oof Hakan wasn't as young as he used to be and the trek was starting to take the wind from him, especially with a plant in his mouth.

He stopped at the doorway and placed the stalk on his paws.
"Heya." Hakan nodded his head warmly at Adolph to get his attention, "Thought we could share this great chewing leaf together. Eases some of the old aches and pains. Hadn't had a chance to really connect somehow. Thought maybe..." He glanced away, "Maybe since we have some time... might as well?" He shrugged and turned back to the other elder.

They were the only elders in the pack now. He regretted not getting to know him and Buckshot better before.

Shenanigans Prompt

Hello everyone! I figured it'd be a great exercise for our members to really break some boundaries and have fun with each other, regardless of what's happening ICly. So I'm gonna put together a little monthly prompt, entirely for fun and voluntary! Think of it as simply making some hilarious memes based off canon or AU circumstances with our tribe's characters! There's no real rules other than abiding by the forum's expectations for art content (aka spoilering any sensitive or mature images).
Every month I'll try and toss up new prompts or ideas for us to have fun with, hopefully based around what either is happening or will be happening in IC. c:

"Time To Turn Up The Charm"
Who does your character have their sights on, and how would they attempt to woo them?

Please be sure to post your entries here so everyone can appreciate them, even those who aren't in the tribe or on the discord server. And have lots of fun, everyone!
