Whatever, just no one feed that fucking thing after midnight [Vto/Irene]
Posted by: Vtoleni - January 02, 2018, 01:27:58 AM - Replies (2)

The strange denizens of their stranger lands had requested four healthy little bundles of joy and he was here to provide. Well, the other mercenaries had helped as well, supposed Vtoleni. It had certainly been nice to let them take care of the more dangerous parents so he could... take his time with the old couple. Why had little Irene been in their care, rather than that of her mummy and daddy? Maybe he'd wondered once, in careless passing.

He didn't pay any mind to the other children as he moved, almost gliding across the distance that separated he and the reserved girl. Ice-blue eyes slitted halfway, a serene, unlikeable smile stretching over his pointed muzzle like a glasgow scar. The coyote drifted close, as though this was a hunt and she was the crippled rabbit with nowhere to go.

"Hello again, mausi."

Is that a fucking gremlin? [Vto/Angel]

The wilderness here was unclaimed, too rough and sprawling to be anything but neutral ground, but that did not mean there was no darwinian social order at work. Strong animals trampled the weak as they did everywhere else on this mudball planet. Those who lacked in strength or wits or just luck were snapped up for whatever use the mouth seizing them had, and unlike in an established pack, there was often nobody to care when some wayward wolf didn’t come home one night.

Vtoleni was born of this brutal element, one of its purest epicenters in fact, and he took to it like a duck to water. Discovering his trade had been a magnificent event, for it meant he would never go hungry, that he could amass gems and bones and pelts and trinkets and more and MORE... that he could have an endless supply of toys to play with between commissions and payments. Life was good, more so than he deserved, anyone decent would grouse.

He prowled, restless, as the sun was just starting to think about rising over the distant horizon. Ice-blue eyes settled upon a dozing little bundle of white fluff, her thorny leash secured to a massive boulder nearby. That mouthy one. Angel. The coyote moved in, all slick oil, and leaned down casual as can be, hissing into one velvet ear.

“Do you know vhat’s going to happen to you, schatzi?”

  Aurora Storms

A cold night had turned into a cool dawn, evening spent curled against a long forgotten structure in the highlands to gaze up at the lights that danced above. Swirls of lime greens, purples, and pinks flashing like waves. Colours weaving into Fawkes' fur, and shining bright reflections on his eyes as he smiled upward. Crackles of static from the Aurora storm loudly echoed through the emptiness around him. At some point after a long fight against drowsiness, mottled nose tucked under a foot, long curly tail curled around over his face for warmth, and Fawkes had drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

A bundle of dark speckled curls were tugged by a breeze, that brushed them over the fluttering of deep rose eyes, a faint sunrise greeting him with a sky of pastels that had barely begun to appear. A few stars still peeking from behind thin clouds that moved quickly on the wind. A shiver ran up his spine, lifting his warm fur as an exhale puffed out from his nose. He'd raise up to his feet and begin to shuffle sleepily forward down a worn trail, heading in to direction in particular, but decided fairly quickly to tuck against the opposite side of the structure to watch the sunrise.

Out of the wind's grasp, and leaning firmly against stones, his body tucked into itself tightly for warmth. Lengthy tail curling back around the feet he'd just tucked against his chest, head stayed upright to watch the world begin to turn. Sun creeping closer to the horizon line as the navy blues receded the opposite direction, giving way to light that would burst through at any moment. Someone was approaching from the same direction, which had their figure silhouetted and wrapped in a warm light.

Cheerful, "Good morning." smiled toward them.

Drip.
     Drip.
          Drip.

The cathartic sound of falling rain drummed against his eardrums and his body; causing his previously thick coat to begin clinging greedily against his broad frame. Each move made was emphasized by his muscles contracting and retracting. Paws landing against the soft wet mound of earth that had become drenched and moist by the onslaught of the growing storm. The squelch of the mud giving way to his weight and ooze between his toes made his nose scrunch in distain. He never felt such a revolting sensation and he knew that it would be a constant event until he reached his destination. Not wanting to drag out this mental torture the fringe dire pick up his pace from a steady walk to a brisk jog. Running was out of the question. Last thing he needed was to break a leg because he didn't feel like prolonging the feel of muck rising between his toes. It had been days since Necros started his journey and it had been a peaceful calm since his adventure began but now as he was drawing closer to his end the weather had turned foul. Infact he was certain that it had taken a turn once he was within five miles of the packs border. The male wondered idly if this was a sign of what he was to expect from now on.

A loud crack of thunder broke through the symphony of the steady drum of the rain and caused the large male to flinch as he was not expecting the sudden explosion. Fiery amber eyes cast  their wrath skyward as the rolling mass of granite clouds rolled over and under each other. The lone wolf knew that he didn't want to be caught within the full force of this storm and decided to let out a howl to see if a patrol would respond. He'd be surpised if anyone was out in this type of weather but since it came on so suddenly he was hoping for the best.  Until then he'd have to wait out the storm in some sort of shelter. Sweeping a searching gaze over his surroundings the large fringe dire spotted a decaying tree leaning against its stronger neighbor forming a tent that he could take advantage of and Necros did just that. Seeking a place to escape the falling rain he made a beeline for the dry underbrush beneath the decaying tree. The sound of crunching leaves and twigs never sounded so heavenly before. Shaking his coat out he rid himself of the extra weight he had been hauling around only to lay down on his patch of dryness and wait for an answer to his prior call...if the sound of the storm hadn't drowned it out that is. Gods had better be merciful and give him that much at least.

Seeing as the storm was gaining power Necros prepared to wait out the worst of it alone. Well at least the log above him was large enough to provide shelter for two it just meant he had more room in which to stretch out his legs and rest. The howling of the wind played as a lullaby and slowly the male began to feel drowsy but forced himself to remain awake. God he hoped nothing else would interrupt his plans for joining the Gemini pack. For all he went through he had no plans on not becoming a member.

  Through the Looking Glass
Posted by: Lyrium - December 31, 2017, 10:04:46 PM - Replies (4)

「L y r i u m 」
"Lyrium..."

I was running..at least I thought I was running.  It was so hard to see where I was much less what I was doing.  There was so much darkness..so much emptiness..A sinking feeling was drowning inside my chest as I realized I was stuck in the endless nightmare again.  It was suffocating me, drowning me in despair.  My throat was taunt and dry, my voice was cracking as I tried to grasp for words.  I felt my paws beating against something, but when I looked down there was nothing.  I wanted to curl up into a ball and cry.  No, I wanted to curl up into a ball and fucking just die.  It was the same thing over and over again.  I was running, falling into an endless darkness.  I never knew when I would ever see the light at the end, but there were times where I would always almost lose hope.

"Lyrium.."

I shoved my ears forward and jerked my head around.  There was nothing there, just darkness snaking its way around me.  I stumbled and was shoved onto my face.  I had rolled to my side, jerking up as I screamed...but nothing came out.  I was terrified..I could barely breathe..I wanted it to stop.  I tried to scream!  I just wanted to wake up.  Fucking wake up Lyrium!  Fucking wake up!  I jerked my paws up, beating at my head until I felt like it was going to burst.  Damn it you stupid worthless half breed fucking wake up!  This was not real, it can't be real!  I jerked my paws from my head as I felt something wet trickle down my skull.  My eyes widen in horrible as blood as black as the darkness dripped down to my paws.

Wake up Lyrium..

My heart was racing so fast I felt like it was going to spontaneously burst out of my chest.  Oh gods!  I started panicking as I gasped for air.  The darkness was closing in on me, closer and closer it got.  I tried to back away but I had no where to run.  I was petrified, almost frozen like a statue.  My eyes were becoming blurry and I was grasping for more air.  My throat was getting tighter and my heart was pumping so fast..until...the darkness started to consume me....

"LYRIUM!"

I jerked up in a shock.  I felt like I was literally torn from my skin as I searched frantically around me.  Fiery eyes turned themselves, blinking rapidly.  I could feel my heart racing heavily against my chest.  I was finally able to register what was around me..snow..lots of lots of glorious fucking I never thought I would ever say this fucking snow.  I turned to look at my paws to make sure it was all just a dream.  They were clean, no blood, just paws crushed in snow.  I turned my attention to the tree I had decided to rest against.  I guess old habits died hard.  It was kind of weird to think about it.  I mean I had a perfectly good den to sleep in, and yet I choose to sleep out here.  Yea, old habits definitely do die hard.

"Lyrium?"

I jerked my head sideways, shoving my ears forward.  My eyes widen as a figure stood not to far away from where I had decided to take a nap.  She was odd looking..kind of like me.  She was wolfish in appearance, but she had horns that curved behind weird finned ears.  She had whiskers, like me, that flowed from her muzzle.  She had really stunning blue eyes and coloration that frighteningly matched mine...then she had fins..fins?  On her frame..it was odd...but..."Are you new here?  I have never seen you around these parts before....Who are you?"  A frown creased her features and she seemed disappointed..disappointed at what?  What did I do?  Was I suppose to know who she was?  I was confused..

"Lyrium..you should know your own mother.."

I did not think my eyes could get any bigger.  I shoved myself up to all fours and curled my lips into a snarl, exposing my fangs.  "You lie, my mother is fucking dead!"  I never had a chance to meet my mother, but the look on her face made my heart drop.  She had the look on her face like someone had slapped her hard.  It wrenched something in my gut and I was even more confused.  Why did she look at me like that?  The sad part was...even if she was telling the truth..not that I believed her..cause the dead don't walk among the living..but I had never met my mother nor did I have any idea what she had looked like.  She died giving birth to us and all I had was my father's, my aunt's, and my grandmother's memories of her.

"I'm sorry.."

I flinched and she started to turn away..no..no..no!  "Wait don't go!"  I pleaded, but it was too late.  She was fleeting away and I shoved myself forward after her.  I was racing across the terrain, but it was for nothing.  She was gone...she was fucking gone again!  I jerked to a halt near the bank of the lake, turning my gaze to stare at my reflection.  Great job Lyrium!  You stupid, useless half breed!  I growled rather loudly, shocking myself for a brief moment before I slammed my paws down at the snow curving along the edges of the water.  I shoved myself to my haunches as I slumped half over, my head drooping.  I was going crazy....the dead don't walk among the living..do they?

Warnings: How They Work

The Moderator Team has long been aware that we could be a lot more transparent about how we do things. The userbase deserves to be aware of how we handle reports and punishments in general, so you can make educated guesses about how reports you submit and reports submitted against you are dealt with. This is also to give you a view into our thought and procedural process. We can't give out information on specific reports, but we could do a lot more to spell out what our general process looks like so you know what to expect.

We've decided that we need to revise our warning standard in a significant way, and to do that we've come up with this system. We're looking at separating warnings into two levels, because certain actions on the forum are more severe than others, and giving out the same warnings for all of those things was too severe in some cases and not severe enough in others. We've also tried to provide examples of the behavior we're talking about for each warning level, so you can know what we were thinking when we divided the two levels up in the way we did.

As it remains still, the forum warning system functions on a very generalized “three strikes, you’re out” standard. As warnings are issued there will be clear indication as to what step of following action will be given if the behavior continues.

All of this is a work in progress and can change at any time due to reconsideration, additions, or any other future changes. Any following updates will be posted individually to be properly logged as a change.

The Warning Levels:

Level 1 Warning: The more minor of the two but still pertinent to receiving a message from the moderation team. Examples for potentially receiving these warnings include but are not limited to: Public misconduct in discussion or any public threads, passive aggressive/pointedly aggressive commentary in public threads, repeated dogpiling in discussions, invoking fights/arguments in discussions or public scenarios, repeated cases of OOC to IC (including IC dogpiling brought on by OOC influence).

Level 2 Warning: The more major of the two warnings, ones that if repeated up can result in heftier repercussions which can include suspensions or bans. Examples for potentially receiving these warnings are but not limited to: Bullying of any type (over a disagreement, pointed aggression, exclusion, etc) General harassment (repeated attempts at contact when requested not to, unsolicited sexual references/discussions, targeted ooc to ic, etc) and in rare occasions forceful opposing or pushing back against a moderation team decision (including team harassment to multiple mods).

Other Punishments and Appeals

Both warning levels combined can be followed up with repercussions such as but not limited to: temporary suspensions, removal from staff teams (from mod issued warnings), banning from sales of artwork, and permanent forum bans. Some instances there is a case by case basis where the severity of the warning level will depend on the situation. Multiple, different offenses will also be considered by the moderation team if there are continued issues. Generally, these warnings will correspond to any of our current forum rules.

The moderation team is also aware that we can make mistakes, and we will allow users to appeal warnings you feel were incorrectly made against you. Successfully appealed warnings will be taken into account and considered for future warnings if they happen. Allowing users to appeal their warnings is something new for IDS, so our plan is to construct a process for it as we go along. As of now, there is no process, so if you would like to appeal a warning you receive from here on out, let us know that that is what you intend as you make your case in a PM sent to one of us.

If you have any questions, concerns or input about this warning system, you may kindly let us know via PM and we will try to get back to you with an appropriate response thereafter.

Must stay awake. Keep your head up.
His lungs ache, every pull of the salty air like claws down his parched throat. His cracked lips stick to his teeth, his body in anguish. Every inch of him pleads to stop, to relax and let go, but his will to survive drags him out of the fog of exhaustion just long enough to keep him above water.

Bastion has been at the mercy of the seemingly endless ocean for days. He had traveled many miles in his years of wanderlust, but he’d never gone so long without rest, food, and fresh water. By the third day his strength flagged, and the currents carried him between bursts of paddling. At nearly a week, he could hardly worry about whether he lived or died, lost as he was in delirium and fatigue.
His only release came in the fleeting moments when he slipped into unconsciousness- or insanity, he couldn’t tell. Visions would drift up through the pain and fear; images of a sleek, shadowy femme with purple eyes dancing behind his lids. He could hear her eerie howl, mingling with the wind, taunting him. He saw the faces of the young wolves he’d trained to hunt and fight, each one like a family member.

Quite abruptly, the rhythmic rise and fall of the waves is gone. Though he can hardly feel anything beyond the agony of his burning limbs, the sudden change is enough to drag a painful wretch out of him. His gut twists angrily, but he’s been empty for days, leaving him wincing and panting.
He can sense he is no longer in direct sunlight, and without lifting his head Bastion peels his stinging eyes open just enough to see the expanse of dark sand around him and the foreboding cliffs beyond.

Sleep drags at him, and he struggles to understand how he ended up here. Instinct demands that he get out of the open and away from the water. Here, he is exposed and vulnerable.
Unable to lift himself, Bastion feebly digs his hind claws into the sand and pushes his limp body up the beach as far as he can manage. After a few feet, he can go no further and finally gives in to the darkness.

The morning was clear and bright, bearing the promise of a beautiful day.  With an excited shriek that only a child could make, a little mottled ball of fur tumbled down the hill. To call the young pup uncoordinated would be too kind. She tripped and sent herself sprawling like a tiny drunk, but it didn't dampen Twitch's enthusiasm for the adventure she was insistent on having.  Barely with her legs under her she had bolted into the unknown with a completely bright outlook.  There was so much space.  The den had been stuffy and crowded.  She never got to keep her creepy crawlies for long in there.  Every bug and beetle magically escaped or disappeared with her siblings about.  But in this bright, open world there had to be crawlies galore.

Skidding down the slope, Twitch's large ears perked forward in the direction of the most interesting noise. It was a high, electric buzz, It was a noise that set her nerves on edge. It drew her because of curiosity, but it was already threatening to overwhelm her small system.  One of her ears flicked like a fly was buzzing around a horse's head.  Her long tail stood almost straight up, but bent back over halfway, making her look oddly squirrel-like as it twitched around her.  She crawled under a bush, her back just brushing the lowest branch, sending an involuntary shiver through her that resulted in a wet-dog shake.

Looking around, she didn't find the source for the buzzing.  Padding to the other side of the small clearing, she ducked her head into a break in the undergrowth, but the sound seemed duller on this side.  Plopping down in the center of the small gap in the trees, she raised a hind foot and scratched her ear in thought.  She wanted to know what was making that sound!  Another tremor wracked her, and she fell backwards on the grass and rolled from side to side, trying to get rid of the itch the noise was causing.  She needed to know, because they aggravated her twitches. Twitch didn't like these buzzing things, no sir.  But first, she needed to know exactly what she didn't like.  It was important.  Because reasons.
