The sun danced brilliantly against the shimmer water’s surface. Avalon, sprawled against the edge of the springs, seemed rather content in her solitude for the time being. It had been what felt like forever ago since she returned— today was day where nothing important seemed to be occurring around the dazzling body of water. Ava took this an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of it without being crowded by others during an important gathering.

Vibrant eyes couldn’t help but drift toward the direction of the cliff side, her heart seemed to tug her there. It’s like it new it wanted the outside, but Avalon made a promise to herself to at least try to appreciate her parent’s homeland. She grit her teeth and raised herself to her feet, swinging her head around to prevent any unnecessary temptation from the cliffs.

As her head swung she’d noticed the magnificent mountain, one she was told was called the Ember Peak. With a quiet huff she decided to investigate the location, having not considered the option sooner. Giving herself a loose shake, she began to travel toward the east. However, her attentive ears didn’t allow some nearby guest to go unnoticed, and the women simply let out a sigh.

Yes, of course, come along if you want!” Her tone was sarcastic. “It’s a free country, right?” Just as she finished, her body swung around to try and see who was tailing her— or perhaps she was just being cautious. Old habits die hard, and looking over your shoulder often was a necessary survival tactic as an outsider.

man with no country; Jay & Raven

He’d just been patrolling, doing his own thinking, scowling to himself all along the way. Irritation boiled his blood and he felt as if he’d just been betrayed but he tried to shake it off. Why did it matter so much anyway? He was betrayed often, being a bastard of two of the “lower blooded” families didn’t exactly help him make friends. But Padme had been a rogue, she should have welcomed his aid rather than flee like a coward. Fangs bared instinctively to the amount of anger that flooded his system, stomping loudly with displeasure. Val wasn’t even paying attention to where he was going or what he was doing, his body was on an odd autopilot mode and he just marched forward with little reservation.

These things always happened to him, this was his karma for doing nice things. Bastard is a bastard right? Karma is never going to give positive back to him just because he puts it out so why should he even do it anymore? The Raven huffed and snorted hard, shaking his head. This was ridiculous, he was being ridiculous, he had to let it go. Learn from it and then just let it go, Padme had dug her grave and he wouldn’t help her out of it. That wasn’t his job and sympathy wasn’t an emotion he should trust to guide him again.

Or was it attraction?

The bastard had been avoiding the thought that he might have felt extra bad for her because she was very pretty. It was the last thing he’d wanted to consider, thankfully he didn’t have to. A loud voice broke his thoughts into pieces, bringing him out of autopilot and to a halt. If Avalon managed to catch his expression prior to confusion she might realize that he had simply been lost in his thoughts. But if not he’d just blink at her with purple eyes, looking at where she was going in relation to him. Looking at her. Sanguine, obviously, normally he’d dismiss himself but if she wanted to be sarcastic,
”Well I hadn’t intended to, but since you clearly insist, I suppose I must.”

The day with Pearle had been enlightening. She had talked so much about their culture and Illidan had sponged it all in. The bloodlines and the prestige that everyone was under was quite fascinating. A new concept to him as he was never raised under a banner, but rather a rogue mother with her large husband that cared for their children deeply. Now that he was on his own, he explored and tried to recite some of the information just to retain his memory so that he wouldn't forget when he met up with others.

He wondered if they would be as welcoming as Pearle had been or if there were any non-Avari like Crocodile and himself. Today he would find himself two Avari, both sarcastic in tone.

Illidan had been exploring the newfound territory, getting used to the landmarks and where he was respective to certain ones. He wanted to find his way back to the pyramid, but for now he mapped El Dorado in his mind as he went. There was so much to take in, nooks that looked so peaceful. He would have to find a home somewhere, someday. The right place to settle and be comfortable.

The sarcastic voice was somewhat a ways away when Illidan noticed it. Had he been spotted without his knowledge? He was sort of an airhead, oblivious to his surroundings when he was in the middle of thoughts. The fae-boy stepped forward through the brush and found two of them, arriving as Valravn spewed his own sarcastic response. The boy wasn't one for unpleasantries, so instead he smiled at both of them.

"Where to?"

It had been difficult to make friends after the war for the Opalite woman. Her family had lived "underground" during the conflict, not wishing to get caught up in the snare of war. Inevitably, that wasn't possible. Family was still stolen away in a whirlwind of blood and frayed feathers. Estellah still had remaining family, fortunately, and she clung to them with devout loyalty. Even though Vega was a bit...unorthodox in his behavior at times, Fox's strange obsession over "humans" (whatever they were), and Pulsar's reserved nature, she loved them unconditionally, and dreaded the day that turmoil would strike their faces. By Xiuhcoatl and the stars above, she hoped that day would never come....

Estellah was once again making her way to the springs, one of her favorite locations to stargaze. The openness of the area made it easier to see the thousands of specks in the black canvas, thus creating a more detailed map of the stars. Upon her back, her black flying squirrel, Aerglo, held a scroll in place to keep it from bouncing off as the woman trotted along. Within it held important documents pertaining to the stars and the secrets they held, and there were still blank spots that needed to be filled in. Hopefully, that job could be fulfilled tonight.

When the starry woman grew closer, she heard voices being carried on the gentle breeze. She stopped for a moment in hesitation, wondering if she should come back later. She was not ignorant of the looks other family lines gave her and her family. Stella knew how vain they all were, and she too carried a little bit of vainness in her, albeit toward personal attractiveness. However, she did not automatically turn her nose up at everyone she came across, even if they did so to her. She refused to stoop to their level. It hurt every time it happened, but the pain was growing weaker they more she built up an immunity to such treatment.

Taking a deep breath, and casting a glance back toward Aerglo, she decided to proceed forward. The only way to build immunity was to take small doses of the disease.

Once she was out of the trees and into the open, Estellah caught sight of three individuals. She recognized two of them, although their names escaped her, and the third was a stranger to her. He carried no plumage, and so she surmised that he was an outsider. Unlike other families, she held no scorn toward outsiders, even if they didn't carry a starry-like pelt.

During her approach, Stella caught the sarcastic remarks of the other Aviaris. No surprise there. However, the light-hearted reply of the stranger was what peaked her interest the most. His tone did not carry the prejudice that ran through everyone else's blood. The star woman gave a small smile to the dappled stranger, acknowledging his pleasant demeanor. She could already tell he held a beautiful soul.

"Good day," she chimed in softly, doe-eyes looking over the trio. "I could sense an air of adventure. A respite from the everyday grind would make for some much needed rejuvenation."
