The sun had just barely been creeping over the edge of the wall when Bellona sauntered up to it, looking up at skulls she became acquainted with nearly on the daily. The lowlands had been a constant place of curiosities but also caution, a place Bellona found herself inching into quite often. Any nearby sentry might not be surprised to see the orange teen, who on the daily managed to wiggle her way through the choke point and down beyond the descending part of the territory. She wasn’t afraid, but she was curious. Something told her things were happening down there, interesting things, and the little warrior child never shied away from learning more about Gemini, more about Saboro….

She remembered what her grandmother had said that day about Saborans and Bellona was almost itching to find one, just to prove she could. Just to prove something. She was old enough now not to be on the overly watchful eye of her mother, knowing that her father had her back every day as long as the sun beat over head.

And so she wandered, for any and all to see.

Somewhere far from here, on a distant shore, an ocean rumbles and crashes to ground, lulling skybirds and children to sleep. The sand sparkled white with a streak of black, jet and stark against the shimmering pearls. The water was so clear you could see right through it. Some souls were the same. They had nothing to hide. Others were so cloudy and dark they felt like summer storms. Others were cold and closed off. But they all had one thing in common-- they were here, until they were not. Oh, how fickle life is, these grains of sands come together in one place in the blink of an eye. Isn’t it strange?

Summer wears on, like sun on an orange girl’s back. The hourglass turns and it’s here again. It’ll be gone before you know it, only to return, year after year after year. There’s hope in that, isn’t there? The seasons, they never change. Summer is indefinite. Summer in indomitable. It’s warmth sifting through her pelt, a burning fiery sun that should hurt, but doesn’t. It is wealth and prosperity. It is fireflies that children and lovers chase in the early evening. It is mother’s flowers, spreading across the land and claiming it as their own.

It’s the figure that looks so much like her, this stalwart daughter. It’s hard to say when it got there. Perhaps it had always but never been. White paws matched her step for step. Horns nestle in his curls and a golden crown wreathes his head. He knew her. Of course he knew her. He knew her in the now, in the before, and in the times that would come. The liquid inbetween was funny that way.

It’s a nice day,” father says to daughter, ”I hope you’ll let me spend it with you.
