Gods and religion.

In truth he didn't buy it, or at least he wasn't convinced yet of any reason to do so. Growing up he'd been led to a reckless life, without destiny or callings or the need to pledge oneself and pray for blessings. There were no magical spirits hovering around him or his kin, guiding them or aiding them in their countless troubles and misgivings. No one to cleanse him of a past that threatened to stick to him like glue. No. Polaris had always had himself, and always would. That was the only certainty in life.

Of course he had the common sense to bite his tongue on this matter.
In the zealous world of a cult, he must become one with them, in appearance if not in truth.

A shiver down his spine, his thick soft fur shuddering despite the sun shining down so fervently. Ice-white eyes narrowed intently, hungrily eyeing a bit of shadow on the outskirts of the forests. The weight of the act failed to hold him down as his figure took a graceful gait; head held high, tail held out and his limbs curling with each step, the timber mutt looked perhaps audacious. He might just be, but moreso he saw himself as the interviewee who dressed for the job he sought, not the job he'd applied for.

This Bondless shit wouldn't suit him well for much longer.
Sitting calmly, with slowed and dignified moevments, in the shadow of a massive pine, Polaris stared out into Oukoku-Kai. He stared and lusted for a future he'd yet to shape.

That pristine mask twitched.
